GREEN ELECTED TO PENDLETON FARMERS SOCIETY

COLUMBIA, SC….Audie Green of Belton, Agricultural Education Teacher at the Anderson I & II Career Center in Williamston, has been selected for membership in the prestigious and historic Pendleton Farmers Society at its recent spring meeting, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs for the SC Agricultural Educators Association.

Green, a graduate of Clemson University with BS and MS Degrees in Agricultural Education, achieved National Board Certification in 2003. He has been teaching at the Career Center since 1991.

The Pendleton Farmers Society, organized in 1815, meets in the Farmers Hall which was constructed in 1828 on the square in Pendleton. It is the oldest farmers hall in continuous use in the nation.

It was here that Thomas Green Clemson, a former president of the Society, first discussed plans for founding a land grant institution which became a reality and today is known as Clemson University.
