AGRICULTURAL EDUCATORS MEET AT CLEMSON CLEMSON, SC….Agricultural Educators from throughout South Carolina convened at Clemson University for their annual state conference, July 21-23, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs for Agricultural Education. Professional seminars planned and coordinated by Dr. Phil M. Fravel, Associate State Director of Agricultural Education and a member of the Agricultural Education faculty at Clemson, included hands-on training in Agricultural Engineering, Animal Science, Turf Management, Green House Management, Soil Science, Weed Control and Global Positioning Systems (GPS). Clemson University President James F. Barker addressed a Joint Luncheon of the Agricultural Educators and the SC Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association on Friday, July 23. John F. McGee of Anderson, SC, presented President Barker the first Honorary Life Membership in the South Carolina Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association. McGee is president of the association. Others who addressed the conference were State Representative Ronald Townsend of Anderson, SC, Chairman of the House Education and Public Works Committee; Jerry Holley of McBee, SC, Chairman of the Chesterfield County School Board; Mrs. Patricia H. Bryan, Counselor at the Strom Thurmond Career Center, Johnston, SC; Cary D. Chamblee, Associate Director, SC Department of Natural Resources, Columbia, SC; Dr. H. Wayne Beam, President, Beam, Shannon and Associates, Columbia, SC; Billy Keels, State Director of Agricultural Education, Florence, SC; Keith Cox, State FFA Executive Secretary, Florence, SC, and Jonathan D. Dorn, State FFA Vice President, Calhoun Falls, SC. Joe Wilson, Agricultural Education Teacher at Aiken High School, served as President of the SC Agricultural Educators Association in 2003-04.
