Josh Waters welcomes Annette Vaughan to Newberry.MID-STATE AGRICULTURAL EDUCATORS CONVENE IN NEWBERRY
Agricultural Educators from a twelve-county area in the mid-state region of South Carolina assembled at the Newberry County Career Center on September 15 for their semi-annual planning conference. Annette Vaughan, Agricultural Education instructor at the Union County Technology Center and vice chairperson of the SC Association of Agricultural Educators, presided at the event.
Nominations for regional agricultural education awards were approved and honorees recognized. Josh Waters, Agricultural Education instructor at the Newberry County Career Center and host of the conference and dinner, was named recipient of the Teacher Turn the Key Award designed to recognize outstanding young instructors who are providing superb leadership in twenty-first century agricultural education.
Other items reviewed at the conference included the Ag Tailgate/FFA Day event at Clemson University, SC FFA Recognition Day at the State Fair, and plans for a number of up-coming region and state FFA-sponsored career development events.
Special guests at the conference included Christopher Corzine, associate state director of Agricultural Education with Clemson University, and John W. Parris, state director of public affairs for SC Agricultural Education.
