TEMPLETON IS OUTSTANDING YOUNG AGRICULTURAL EDUCATOR
CLEMSON, SC…Libby H. Templeton. Agricultural Education instructor at Batesburg-Leesville High School, has been named the Outstanding Young Agricultural Educator in the Mid-state Region by the SC Association of Agricultural Educators, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the organization.
“Mrs. Templeton was presented the prestigious award during the Association’s recognition dinner at the Madren Conference Center on the Clemson University campus recently,” Mr. Parris said.
A graduate of Clemson University with BS and MS degrees, Mrs. Templeton has been the Agricultural Education instructor and FFA advisor at Batesburg-Leesville High School for six years. During that time, she has served as vice president of the SC Association of Agricultural Educators. She is a member of the board of directors of the South Carolina Junior Beef Round-Up and directs the State Fair-Farm Bureau Junior Beef Scholarship Program.
“This award is a notable laurel to come to Mrs. Templeton and Batesburg-Leesville High School,” Mr. Parris added . “She is definitely among the outstanding agricultural educators in our state and most deserving of this honor.”
Outstanding agricultural educators are in high demand because there are more requests for new Agricultural Education programs by school districts across the nation than there are qualified applicants. As a result of this challenging situation, the National Association of Agricultural Educators is coordinating a National Teach Ag Day promotional event on March 24, 2011, to encourage young people to consider a career in Agricultural Education and recognize the contributions of current Agricultural Educators.
