FFA MEMBERS HOLD CHRISTMAS PARTY FOR
LOCAL CHILDREN'S HOME

The Cherokee County Technology Center and Blacksburg High School FFA Chapters jointly sponsored a Christmas party for a local Children's Home recently. The event, held at the Cherokee Technology Center in Gaffney, included dinner for everyone and a surprise visit by Santa. FFA officers assisted Santa in distributing a number of excellent gifts to the children, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA Association.

Bob Lail, Agricultural Education Teacher and FFA advisor at the center, says the annual event provides FFA members an opportunity to understand the true meaning of Christmas. "Through this service learning project, the students experience the joy of helping others and giving back to the community", Lail said.

The local Sertoma Club contributes funds to the FFA chapters to support the project. "It is because of their support that this event is possible", Lail added.

William Parker, agricultural education teacher, is the FFA advisor at Blacksburg High School.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
