POSTON IS STATE FFA STAR FARMER FINALIST

CLEMSON, SC . . . Stewart Poston, a member of the Latta High School FFA Chapter, was named a STATE FFA STAR FARMER FINALIST by the SC FFA Association at Clemson University recently, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA.  “He had been selected earlier this year as the Pee Dee Regional FFA Star Farmer”, Parris said.

Stewart is actively involved with his grandfather, Harold Gasque, in the operation of the family-owned tobacco and small grain farm.  They plant 120 acres of tobacco each year in the Latta community.  His primary responsibilities in tobacco production includes insect control through selective spraying techniques and agricultural equipment maintenance.

“His FFA Career Development Event participation includes poultry and soil judging as well as swine showmanship,” Parris added.

A 2003 graduate of Latta High School, Stewart will enter Florence-Darlington Technical College this fall with plans to transfer to a four-year university later.

Stewart is the son of Kim and Debbie Poston.  His FFA Advisor is Keith Cox, Agricultural Education Teacher at Latta High School.
