CLEMSON, SC . . . Will Taylor of Honea Path, SC, a rising senior at Belton-Honea Path High School, has been named the State FFA Star Farmer by the South Carolina FFA Association at Clemson University recently, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA.

He was presented the prestigious agricultural education award by Marie Stiles of Columbia, SC, Executive Director of the SC Cooperative Council, on behalf of the council who sponsors the award as a special project of the SC FFA Association.

Will and his FFA Advisor Glenn Stevens, Agricultural Education Teacher at Belton-Honea Path High School, were awarded expense-paid trips to the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky, later this year where he will compete in the National FFA Star Farmer Finals.

The son of Richard and Mary Taylor, Will is President of the Belton-Honea Path High School FFA Chapter.

He is the sole manager and decision maker for the family’s beef cattle herd of over 90 brood cows.  This allows his father time to concentrate on his preconditioning and contract beef cattle operation.

“Will was also named the State Winner of the Beef Cattle Production Proficiency Award by the SC FFA Association and will compete in the National Finals at the National FFA Convention later this year”, Mr. Parris said.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
