BRANCHVILLE FFA CHAPTER RECEIVES GRANT

 

COLUMBIA, SC... .The Branchville Higl1 School FFA Chapter has received a $3500 PalmettoPride Challenge for the Environment Grant, according to Pat Black, Agricultural Education Teacher. The grant recipients were honored at a luncheon at the Adams Mark Hotel in Columbia, SC, recently.

Keynote speaker Edward Falco, Environmental Education Specialist with the State Department of Education, said "the grants give schools the opportunity to focus on the importance of litter prevention and beautification and gets the students out of the classroom and into the communities".

State Senator David Thomas, Chairman of PalimettoPride, said, "our education grant program gives students the opportunity to play an active role in making South Carolina litter free", PalmettoPride has recently entered into a partnership with the State Department of Education to launch a K-12 anti-litter curriculum called, Keeping South Carolina Beautiful.

"The FFA chapter will use !he grant to promote litter prevention, litter cleanup, and beautify the Branchville community by planting flowers and bedding plants around the Branchville schools and other public property", Mr. Black said.

"The students will also assist with the Branchville Railroad Festival by cleaning up the town and promoting the anti-litter message to all those who attend", he added.
