CALHOUN FALLS FFA CHAPTER RECEIVES GRANT
The Calhoun Falls High School FFA Chapter has received a $1900 PalmettoPride Challenge for the Environment Grant, according Calvert Sherard, Agricultural Education Teacher. The grant recipients were honored at a luncheon at the Adams Mark Hotel in Columbia, SC, recently.
Keynote speaker Edward Falco, Environmental Education Specialist with the State Department of Education, said, "the grants give school the opportunity to focus on the importance of Jitter prevention and beautification and gets the students out of the classroom and into the communities.
State Senator David Thomas, Chairman of PalmettoPride, said," our education grant program gives students the opportunity to play an active role in making South Carolina litter free". PalmettoPride has recently entered into a partnership with the State Department of Education to launch a K-12 anti-litter curriculum called, Keeping South Carolina Beautiful.
"The FFA chapter will use the grant to landscape the front of the high school and to provide a one main entrance for beautification and security", Mr. Sherard said.
