Pelion High School FFA member Samantha Fulmer was presented the first Roy Nichols Community Service Award by Mrs. Ruth Nichols, wife of the late Mr. Nichols, at the recent Pelion High School FFA Awards and Recognition Banquet, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA Association.

Mr. Nichols who died in 2003 was the principal of Pelion High School for many years. His widow, Mrs. Ruth Nichols, also served as the principal and their daughter, Mrs. Jean Nichols Haggard, is presently serving as the principal. "The Nichols family have been and continue to be strong supporters of Agricultural and Natural Resources Education at Pelion High School," Mr. Parris said.

Frank R. Stover, Jr., Agricultural and Natural Resources Education Teacher at Pelion High School, is the FFA Chapter Advisor.
