LEXINGTON COUNTY FFA MEMBERS HONORED
FFA members from Lexington Technology Center, Batesburg-Leesville High
School, Gilbert High School and Pelion High School were honored by
the Lexington County Farm-City Program Committee, Tuesday, February 17,
2004, for their outstanding accomplishments in agricultural education,
according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs
with the SC FFA Association. The banquet marked the beginning of
the observance of National FFA Week, February 21-28, in Lexington
County.
Special guests
at the banquet included State Commissioner of Agriculture Charles
R. Sharpe, State Senator Nikki Setzler, State Representatives Larry
Koon, Marion B. Frye and McLain R. Toole. Billy Keels, State
Director of Agricultural Education and Keith Cox, State FFA
Executive Secretary, with Clemson University, were also in attendance.
Kirby Player, Director of Student Recruitment for the College of Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences at Clemson University, was the keynote speaker.
The event was coordinated by Mrs. Francis Price of Gilbert, an official with the Lexington County Farm-City Week Program Committee.
Lexington County Agricultural Educators present included Tommy Harmon, Joel Bickley, Derrick Cooper and Frank R. Stover, Jr.
