NIXON NAMED OUTSTANDING YOUNG AGRICULTURAL EDUCATOR IN SOUTHERN STATES
 

J. David Nixon, Agricultural Education Teacher at Crescent High School, Iva, SC, has been named the Outstanding Young Agricultural Educator in the Southern States, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs for the SC Agricultural Educators Association.. Nixon was one of six agricultural educators to be recognized by the National Agricultural Educators Association.

 A graduate of Clemson University with a BS Degree in Animal Science and a MS Degree in Agricultural Education, he has taught for five years. During that time he has coached State Champion Future Farmers of America (FFA) Teams in Soil Science, Livestock Evaluation, Equine Science, Agricultural Issues and Tool Identification. He has also had a student to win the FFA Creed Speaking competition and another student named State FFA Star Farmer. He has served as advisor to three State FFA officers and had a National Finalist in the Agricultural Production Proficiency Award. A number of his students have been named National FFA Scholars.

A recent winner of the SC Farm Bureau-sponsored Discussion Meet, Nixon was a National Sweet Sixteen Finalist in the American Farm Bureau ­sponsored Discussion Meet. He is one of ten individuals selected from throughout the nation as a charter member of the Partners in Agricultural Leadership Team sponsored by the Altria Family of Companies and the American Farm Bureau.

Nixon, a native of Abbeville, SC, served as the State FFA President before entering Clemson University.
