COLUMBIA, SC……FFA members at the Lexington Technology Center grew the poinsettias for decorating the Governor's Mansion at Christmas time, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA Association.

FFA members Austin Hill, Rebekah Roof, Ryan Greene, Preston Rikard, Collin Amick, Aaron Goss, Jacob Powers and Brian Busby delivered the poinsettias to the Mansion and presented them to Mrs. Jenny Sanford, the First Lady of South Carolina, in early December. They were accompanied by Tommy Harmon, FFA Advisor and Horticulture Teacher and Ken Lake, Director of the Center.

Mrs. Sanford welcomed the students and educators and gave them a personal tour of the mansion.

"The opportunity to produce and provide plants to decorate the Governor's Mansion at Christmas time is a highlight of the year for the Lexington FFA members and the SC FFA Association", Mr. Parris said. "The Horticulture Program at the Lexington Technology Center is recognized as one of the outstanding in the southeast," he added.

A sign is appropriately displayed in the mansion recognizing the Lexington FFA members as the producers and donors of the poinsettias.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
