CAMPBELL TOP SCORER IN STATE FFA POULTRY EVALUATION FINALS

CLEMSON, SC…. Bailey Campbell, a member of the Belton-Honea Path FFA Chapter, was the High Individual Scorer in the State FFA-sponsored Poultry Evaluation Finals at Clemson University recently, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA.

“According to South Carolina Agricultural Statistical Service reports, broiler production is the number one agricultural commodity in South Carolina, accounting for 23 percent of the total annual farm income,” Parris said. “Turkey production ranks third and egg production seventh, making the poultry industry a major factor in the state’s important agricultural industry”, he added.

It is because of its economic and nutritional importance that high school agricultural education departments like Belton-Honea Path include poultry science in their curriculum.

The Belton-Honea Path FFA Poultry Science Team members in addition to Campbell were Kaci Brock, Alicia Dutton and Blake Stone. The team placed fourth in the state finals. Glenn Stevens, Agricultural Education Teacher at Belton-Honea Path High School is the FFA Advisor.
