COLUMBIA, SC….Crescent FFA members Lauren Holden and Davis Peeler were presented the American FFA Degree at the State Capitol in Columbia, SC, recently, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA Association.
“The American FFA Degree is the highest award presented to a select group of students by the 476,000 member National FFA Organization”, Parris said. “Selection for this prestigious award is determined by the student’s academic accomplishments, leadership abilities, community service and supervised agricultural education program”, he added.
Holden, a graduate of Crescent High School, is a former State FFA Vice President and South Carolina Beef Ambassador. Peeler, also a Crescent graduate, is a previous National Finalist in the FFA-sponsored Diversified Livestock Production Proficiency Award and the State FFA Star Farmer recipient.
Chris Corzine and Josh McCall, Agricultural Education Teachers at Crescent High School, are the FFA advisors.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
