SOUTH CAROLINA STUDENTS NAMED NATIONAL FFA SCHOLARS

COLUMBIA, SC… Five South Carolina students have been named National FFA Scholars by the National FFA Foundation, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association.

Emily Waggoner, President of the Pendleton High School FFA Chapter, was awarded a $1500 college scholarship sponsored by the Monsanto Company and the National Association of Farm Broadcasters-Commitment to Agriculture Program in concert with the National FFA Foundation. Her FFA Advisor is Garrett Howard, Agricultural Education Teacher at Pendleton High School.

Aaron Ingle, a member of the Strom Thurmond Technology Center FFA Chapter, Johnston, SC, received a $1500 scholarship provided by Monsanto and the National Association of Farm Broadcasters-Commitment to Agriculture Program. His FFA Advisors are Hugh Bland and Dan Henderson, Agricultural Education Teachers at Strom Thurmond Technology Center.

Russell Henderson, also a member of the Strom Thurmond FFA Chapter, was awarded a $1500 scholarship from Monsanto and the National Association of Farm Broadcasters. His FFA advisors are Hugh Bland and Dan Henderson.

Jeffrey Epps, a member of the Edisto High School FFA Chapter, received a $1000 scholarship from the Ford Trucks/Built Ford Tough Scholarship Program. His FFA Advisor is Barry Hawkins, Agricultural Education Teacher at Edisto High School.

Erin Brock, a member of the Abbeville FFA Chapter, also received a $1000 scholarship from the Dodge Division/Daimler Chrysler Corporation Fund Her FFA Advisor is Fred Raines, Agricultural Education Teacher at Abbeville High School.

“All five of these FFA members will be attending Clemson University this fall, Parris said. “The factors used in selecting recipients of these prestigious scholarships include academic achievement, ACT or SAT scores and Class Rank, leadership in the FFA and community and their Supervised Agricultural Education Experience Program”, he added.

The National FFA Foundation awards more than $two million in scholarships annually to outstanding FFA members throughout the nation.
