TOP STATE HONORSCOLUMBIA, SC….The Lexington Technology Center FFA Nursery-Landscape Team took top state honors in the State Finals held at Spartanburg Technical College recently, according to John W. Parris, state director of Public affairs with the SC FFA Association.
Team members Rebekkah Roof, the high individual scorer in the state competition; Adam Mintz, second high individual scorer; Preston Rikard and Jacob Powers along with Team Advisor Tommy Harmon, Horticulture Teacher at the Center, won expense-paid trips to the National FFA Convention scheduled in Louisville, Kentucky, in the fall where they will compete with other state winning teams from throughout the nation in the National Nursery-Landscape Finals.
“It is unusual to have the State Champion Nursery-Landscape Team and the Floriculture Team come from the same school. This achievement certainly speaks volumes about the quality of the Horticulture Department at the technology center”, Mr. Parris said.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
