COLUMBIA, SC….Samuel Hall, a junior at York Comprehensive High School, has been selected as a Merrill-Lynch YOUNG ENTREPRENEUR in South Carolina by the SC Council on Economic Education for 2004.Samuel and his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bob Hall, owners and operators of the Bush-N-Vine Farm near York, are well known for their production and marketing of fresh-from-the-field strawberries. “We expect to have fresh strawberries available at our Certified Roadside Market, 1650 Filbert Road between York and Clover, until Christmas,” Samuel said.
A member of the Floyd D. Johnson Technology Center Future Farmers of America (FFA) Chapter where he serves as vice president, Samuel was nominated for the Young Entrepreneur Award by John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA Association.
Helen Meyers, Executive Director of the Council on Economic Education said Samuel was selected for this prestigious honor because of his success in specialty crop production such as fresh strawberries at this time of the year.
South Carolina ETV officials and Ms. Meyers recently video taped an interview with Samuel to be shown on SC ETV’s Instructional Channel 317 to schools throughout the state December 3 at 8:30 AM.
Frank Sandifer, Agricultural Education Teacher at the Floyd D. Johnson Technology Center, is Samuel’s FFA advisor.
