HUGHES NAMED STATE FFA PRESIDENT

CLEMSON, SC…….Jamie V. Hughes of Pickens, SC, was elected President of the South Carolina Future Farmers of America (FFA) Association at Clemson University recently, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA.
A 2004 graduate of Pickens High School, Jamie served as an officer of the B.J. Skelton Technology Center FFA Chapter. He was a member of an FFA Parliamentary Procedure Team that competed in the state finals and also participated in Livestock and Tractor Operation and Safety Career Development Events. He attended the National FFA Leadership Conference in Washington, DC, in 2003.
Jamie will travel to Washington, DC, this summer to participate in the National FFA Organization-sponsored State President’s Leadership Conference and will lead the South Carolina Delegation to the National FFA Convention in Louisville, Kentucky this fall.
The Pickens County Council recognized Jamie as a Model Citizen in 2003.
He plans to enroll in Tri-County Technical College and later transfer to Clemson University where he will major in agriculture. His career goal is to establish a dairy farm in Pickens County.
He is the son of Randy and Peggy Hughes of Pickens, SC. His FFA Advisors are Steve McCannon and David Jenson, Agricultural Education Teachers at the B.J. Skelton Technology Center.
