LEXINGTON HORTICULTURE STUDENTS PROVIDE POINSETTIAS TO GOVERNOR’S MANSION FOR CHRISTMAS

COLUMBIA, SC….Horticulture students from the Lexington Technology Center, all members of the FFA organization, recently provided beautiful poinsettias to decorate the Governor’s Mansion during the Christmas season, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs for the SC FFA Association.FFA members Lydia Roof, Jessica Hook, Matt Motes, Graham Inabinette, Justin Wright, Rebekah Roof, Ryan Greene, Jacob Powers, Daniel Hood and Preston Rikard presented the plants to the First Lady of South Carolina, Jenny Sanford, at the mansion. They were accompanied by Horticulture Teacher Tommy Harmon and Kenneth Lake, Director of the Technology Center.
“The students grew the poinsettias in the Technology Center Horticulture Department greenhouses under the supervision of Mr. Harmon,” Parris said. “These students and Mr. Harmon are to be commended for their outstanding effort in community service which will be greatly appreciated by all who visit the Governor’s Mansion at Christmas time”, he added.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
