MORGAN NAMED STATE FFA STAR IN AGRIBUSINESS

CLEMSON, SC….James P. Morgan of Edgefield, SC, a student at Strom Thurmond High School and a member of the Strom Thurmond Technology Center FFA Chapter, was named the State FFA Star in Agribusiness for 2004 at Clemson University recently according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA. “This is the highest recognition available to an FFA member in South Carolina who is actively engaged in Agribusiness”, Parris said.
The son of Brooks and Mary Morgan, James was awarded $500 by the Southern States Cooperative, Inc., sponsor of this prestigious award, to defray his expenses to attend the National FFA Convention scheduled in Louisville, Kentucky, in October.
His supervised agricultural experience program consists of working at Derrick’s John Deere Equipment Company in Ridge Spring, SC, on a part-time basis during school and full time in the summer months
A member of the National Wild Turkey Federation’s JAKES, James plans to attend Horry-Georgetown Technical College to study forestry upon graduation from high school.
His FFA advisors are Dan Henderson and Hugh Bland, agricultural education teachers at the Strom Thurmond Technology Center.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
