NANCE WINS AGRICULTURAL LEADERSHIP AWARD
CLEMSON, SC…..Allison Nance of McConnells, SC, has been named recipient of the John W. Parris Agricultural Leadership Award for 2004 by the Clemson Collegiate FFA Organization, according to Dr. Thomas R. Dobbins, Program Coordinator for Agricultural Education at Clemson University. “The presentation was made at a recent Awards and Recognition Banquet on the Clemson campus”, Dr. Dobbins said.
A junior at Clemson University, Allison is majoring in Agricultural Education. She served as vice president of the Clemson Collegiate FFA in 2004 and will serve as Junior Advisor in 2005. She chaired the Collegiate FFA-sponsored Ag Olympics for the past two years.
She is a recipient of the State Fair Swine Showmanship Scholarship, the York County Farm Bureau Scholarship, the Dr. Curtis White Agricultural Education Scholarship and the South Greenville Fair Livestock Showmanship Scholarship. She has also been awarded the State FFA Degree by the SC FFA Association.
A graduate of York Comprehensive High School where she served as vice president of the FFA chapter, she is a daughter of Bill and Jane Nance of McConnells. Her FFA Advisor is Frank Sandifer, Agricultural Education Teacher at the Floyd D. Johnson Technology Center in York.
The prestigious award is named in honor of John W. Parris, a nationally recognized agricultural and conservation leader who taught Agricultural Education in Chester and Anderson prior to being named Executive Director of the SC Land Resources Commission where he served until his retirement from state government. He presently serves as State Director of Public Affairs for Agricultural Education and Editor of AGRIBIZ, the agricultural education magazine for South Carolina.
