STAMEY WINS SCHOLARSHIP

COLUMBIA, SC... ..Elisabeth Stamey, a junior at Chesterfield High School and vice president of the FFA chapter, was named the recipient of a $1500 college scholarship by the South Carolina Farm Bureau Federation at the 2004 State Fair, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA Association.

She was awarded the scholarship based on her outstanding accomplishments in swine production and showmanship. Requirements to compete for the scholarship included a written test on the pork industry, showmanship skills and an interview with pork professionals. David Branham, an official with the SC Farm Bureau, presented the scholarship.

Elisabeth is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joel Stamey of Ruby, SC. Her FFA advisor is Beth Whisenhunt, agricultural education teacher at Chesterfield High School.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
