COLUMBIA, SC….The Aiken High School FFA Chapter was recognized for having the most Outstanding Community Development Program in South Carolina at the recent State FFA Convention held on the Clemson University campus, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs for Agricultural Education.
Aiken FFA Chapter President Amanda Bennington and Advisor Joe Wilson were presented the Governor’s Citation of Accomplishment by J. Kenneth Rentiers, Jr., State Executive Director of the USDA Farm Service Agency and Wesley Harris, Chief Farm Loan Officer with the agency. The USDA Farm Service Agency sponsors the National FFA Chapter Awards and Recognition Program.
Tom Walker, Executive Director of the SC Rural Development Corporation which co-sponsors the awards program in South Carolina, presented the chapter representatives a check for $1000 in recognition of their superb achievement.
“The Aiken Chapter will compete in the National Community Development Program Finals at the National FFA Convention in October”, Parris said.
