COLUMBIA, SC…Christopher Bellamy, a graduate of Loris High School where he is an active member of the FFA chapter, was awarded the American FFA Degree at the recent National FFA Convention in Louisville, KY, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA Organization.
“This prestigious national agricultural education award is presented to a select number of outstanding FFA members from throughout the nation”, Parris said. “Criteria for selection of this honor includes the student’s supervised agricultural experience program, academic achievement and leadership skills”, he added.
More than 50,000 FFA members representing every state in the nation, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands attended the convention along with agricultural educators, parents, school administrators, sponsors and other supporters.
The convention, including the American FFA Degree Ceremony, was televised nationally over the RFD-TV Satellite Network with Orion Samuelson and Max Armstrong, co-hosts of the nationally televised US Farm Report, as anchors.
Christopher, the son of Ashley and Myra Bellamy, is a student at Clemson University majoring in Bio-Systems Engineering. His FFA Advisor is Nate Bellamy, Agricultural Education teacher at Loris High School.
The mission of the 490,000 member National FFA Organization is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
