Tyler Brown is congratulated by Mrs. Jane C. CornBROWN RECEIVES CORN MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
COLUMBIA, SC….Tyler Brown, a 2005 graduate of Laurens District 55 High School, was named recipient of the first Jack P. Corn Memorial Scholarship at the recent FFA Awards and Recognition Banquet, according to John W. Parris, state director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA . The presentation was made by Mrs. Jane C. Corn of Laurens, wife of the late Mr. Corn.
Jack P. CornMr. Corn, a 1949 graduate of Clemson University, taught agricultural education at Pacolet, Carolina and Laurens High Schools for 23 years before becoming director of vocational education and later assistant principal at Laurens.
“A life member of the National FFA Alumni, Mr. Corn is remembered as one of South Carolina’s premier Agricultural Educators in the twentieth century”, Mr. Parris said.
Tyler, 2004-05 President of the Laurens FFA Chapter, will enter Greenville Technical College this fall.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
