COLUMBIA, SC….Cameron Burns, a student at Pendleton High School where she serves as secretary of the Pendleton FFA Chapter, was named champion showman in the ten-state American Gelbvieh Association’s Regional Show in Bowling Green, KY recently, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA Association.
Her heifer, Fancy, was named the Calf Division Champion and two of her other heifers took first place honors.
At the South Carolina Junior Beef Round-Up held at the Garrison Livestock Arena, Cameron was named the winner of a $500 college scholarship provided by the South Carolina Junior Gelbvieh Association. Selection for the scholarship was based on a test score, showmanship and show placing.
The first place winner in the Sales Talk Competition, Cameron was the Reserve Champion Showman. Her Gelbvieh heifer, Miss Augusta, was Reserve Division Champion and overall Reserve Champion Gelbvieh. Her Simmental heifers placed first in their respective classes and she also exhibited the first place animal in the Bred and Owned Class.
Cameron is the daughter of Gary and Sarah Burns of Pendleton. Her FFA Advisor is Garrett Howard, Agricultural Education Teacher at Pendleton High School.
