GLEASON TO JOIN GOVERNOR SANFORD ON BIKE TRIP
COLUMBIA, SC…FFA member Alex D. Gleason of Calhoun Falls and Erskine College will join Governor Mark Sanford and his family on a bicycle trip from Aiken to the Governor’s Mansion in Columbia on Sunday, October 9, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA Association.
Gleason, who biked more than 4000 miles across the nation this summer promoting healthy living and the FFA, will join Governor Sanford and his family for lunch at the Mansion following the 59.7 mile trip. He is a former State Vice President of the South Carolina FFA Association and State Spokesperson for Agriculture for the SC Young Farmer and Agribusiness Association. Calvert Sherard, Agricultural Education Teacher at Calhoun Falls High School, is Gleason’s FFA Advisor.
The bike trip is the Governor’s Second Annual Family Fitness Challenge designed to promote the quality of life for South Carolinians. A number of bikers are expected to participate in the event.
