GLEASON SEND-OFF CEREMONY IN OLYMPIA, WASHINGTON

OLYMPIA, WASHINGTON….Agricultural officials in Washington State held a special Send-Off Ceremony at their State Capitol in Olympia on June 22 for South Carolinian Alex Gleason, a student at Erskine College and member of the Future Farmers of America (FFA) Organization, to launch his bicycle trip across America known as EXPEDITION NUTRITION.

Gleason’s trip will take him through fifteen states this summer where he will share his message on the importance of proper consumption of food products and an active life style. He will emphasize the seriousness of obesity among Americans of all ages.

According to South Carolina FFA Official John W. Parris, Gleason is receiving tremendous media coverage and more invitations to speak along the way than his schedule will possibly allow.

Gleason is scheduled to conclude his trip in Charleston, South Carolina at the end of August.

Participants in the Send-Off Ceremony in Olympia included State Agricultural Education Administrators, Agricultural Educators, Farm Bureau officials and State FFA officers and alumni.
