WATERS PARTICIPATES IN NATIONAL FFA PROGRAM

COLUMBIA, SC…..Joshua O. Waters of Gilbert , SC, recently participated in the National New Century Farmer Program sponsored by Pioneer Hi-Bred International, Inc., a subsidiary of DuPont, and Rabobank, a global financial services leader, as a special project of the National FFA Foundation, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA Association.

“He was awarded an all-expense paid trip to experience an intensive five-day seminar in Johnson, Iowa, on topics ranging from the global marketplace to farm financing, demographic trends and risk management. In addition to classroom instruction, he heard motivational and informative speakers who explored the latest developments in agriculture technology”, Parris said.

Waters, one of 40 FFA members from throughout the nation selected to participate in this prestigious agricultural education event, was the only representative from the south.

A former president of the Gilbert High School FFA Chapter and State FFA Vice President, Waters is a senior at Clemson University majoring in Agricultural Education. He is also serving as president of the Clemson University Collegiate FFA Organization.

He is a son of Richard and Mary Waters of Gilbert. His local FFA Advisor is Derrick Cooper, Agricultural Education Teacher at Gilbert High School.

The mission of the 490,000 member FFA Organization is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
