COLUMBIA, SC….Russell H. Nafziger of Greenville, Vice President of the Golden Strip FFA Chapter, was recognized as a State FFA Star in Agribusiness Finalist at the recent State FFA Convention held on the Clemson University campus, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA Association.
Russell has completed nine hundred hours of Agricultural Education instruction at the Golden Strip Career Center where he was honored as Student of The Year in 2005.
As his supervised agricultural education experience program, Russell established Nafziger Lawn Service with a current equipment inventory exceeding $17,000 in value. Labor income from his formalized lawn service has exceeded thirty thousand dollars over the past two years.
A son of Tim and Millie Nafiger of Greenville, Russell plans to continue his lawn service while attending Greenville Technical College and later transferring to Clemson University.
His FFA Advisor is M. Barry Burdette, Agricultural Education and Horticulture Teacher at Golden Strip Career Center.
Russell, an Eagle Scout, serves as a Roper Mountain Science Center volunteer. He has also competed in State FFA Finals in Tractor Operation, Soils and Agronomy.
