COLUMBIA, SC…Jennifer Perkins, a graduate of Carolina Forest High School where she served as president of the Myrtle Beach FFA Chapter, was awarded the American FFA Degree at the National FFA Convention held recently in Louisville, KY, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization. Jennifer also served as state vice president of the SC FFA Association.
“This prestigious national agricultural education award is presented to a select number of outstanding FFA members from throughout the nation annually”, Parris said. “Selection for this honor is based on the student’s superb supervised agricultural education program, outstanding academic achievement and leadership abilities”, he added.
More than 50,000 FFA members, representing every state in the nation, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands, attended the convention along with agricultural education teachers, parents, school administrators, sponsors and other supporters.
The entire convention was televised nationally over RFD-TV Satellite Network with Orion Samuelson and Max Armstrong, co-hosts of the nationally televised US Farm Report, as anchors.
Jennifer, the daughter of Richard and Linda Perkins of Conway, is a sophomore at Clemson University majoring in Agricultural Education. Her FFA Advisor is Harry Dubose, Agricultural Education Teacher at Carolina Forest High School.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
