PERKINS IS NATIONAL FFA OFFICER CANDIDATE
COLUMBIA, SC….Jennifer Perkins of Conway, a member of the Myrtle Beach FFA Chapter and a 2004 graduate of Carolina Forest High School, will be a candidate for national officer of the National FFA Organization at the annual convention scheduled in Louisville, KY, in October, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA Association.
A former state FFA officer and a 2004 graduate of Carolina Forest High School, Jennifer is a second semester sophomore at Clemson University where she is majoring in Agricultural Education. She earned 30 college-transfer credits at Horry-Georgetown Technical College while in high school and has been named to the Dean’s List both semesters at Clemson.
Jennifer served as president of the Myrtle Beach FFA Chapter for two years and coordinated the chapter’s sixth annual FFA Golf Tournament which raised over $9500. She has appeared on TV a number of times, including the statewide “Making It Grow” Show, WBTW-TV news programs, and the Horry County Schools television program.
A three-time Pee Dee FFA Region Public Speaking Champion, Jennifer has participated in a number of national agricultural education events including the National FFA Leadership Conference in Washington, DC. She has been featured in the NEXT STEPS magazine as one of 11 outstanding high school seniors in South Carolina.
Jennifer served as an intern in the offices of State Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers in Columbia and US Congressman Henry Brown in Washington, SC.
She is the daughter of Richard and Linda Perkins of Conway, SC. Her FFA Advisor is Harry Dubose, Agricultural Education Teacher at Carolina Forest High School.
Membership of the National FFA Organization is made up of more than 485,000 students from all fifty states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands.
