SANDIFER NAMED OUTSTANDING YOUNG AGRICULTURAL EDUCATOR IN SOUTH CAROLINA
COLUMBIA, SC…Mindy Sandifer, a member of the faculty at the Barnwell County Career Center, has been named the Outstanding Young Agricultural Educator in South Carolina by the State Agricultural Educators Association, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the association.
Mindy is a graduate of Clemson University with a BS Degree and Master’s Degree in Agricultural Education. She has taught agricultural education at the Barnwell County Career Center for three years. She taught one year at Midland Valley High School in Aiken County prior to moving to Barnwell.
“Under Mindy’s leadership, the student enrollment in agricultural education courses has increased substantially each year and the FFA chapter is recognized statewide for its exceptional program”, Parris said.
“She has also provided outstanding leadership in the organization and program development of the Barnwell County Young Farmer-Agribusiness Chapter during her time in Barnwell”, he added. The Barnwell group was selected as the Outstanding Chapter in the Low-State Region earlier this year.
Mindy recently spearheaded the successful State Young Farmer-Agribusiness Association’s Summer Educational Tour hosted by the Barnwell chapter. Approximately 200 members and guests from throughout the state attended the two-day event.
The prestigious award was presented to Mindy at the recent State Conference of Agricultural Educators held on the Clemson University campus.
Mindy’s husband, Jeff Sandifer, a fourth generation farmer, is serving as state vice president of the SC Young Farmer-Agribusiness Association. They have one child.
