BRYAN AND BOWIE RECEIVE TOP STATE FFA HONOR

COLUMBIA, SC…..Patricia Herlong Bryan, Guidance Counselor at the Strom Thurmond Career Center, and Clint Bowie, Managing Editor of the EDGEFIELD ADVERTISER, were awarded the Honorary State FFA Degree at the recent South Carolina FFA Convention held on the Clemson University campus, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs for Agricultural Education.

“This prestigious award is the highest honor presented to friends and supporters of agricultural education and the FFA at the state level”, Parris said. “The Strom Thurmond Career Center FFA Chapter is among the outstanding programs in the nation and Mrs. Bryan and Mr. Bowie have played a major role in helping make this a reality”, he added.

Hugh Bland and Dan Henderson, Agricultural Education Teachers at the Center, serve as the FFA advisors.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
