SC FFA MEMBERS TO PARTICIPATE IN STATE FAIR
COLUMBIA, SC… FFA members and Agricultural Education teachers from throughout the state will participate in FFA DAY at the South Carolina State Fair, Wednesday, October 12, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA Association.
“Hundreds of students will attend an FFA Recognition Luncheon at Seawell’s Restaurant adjacent the State Fair Grounds which is always a highlight of the special day”, Parris said.
FFA members who have been named state champions in more than 20 career development events ranging from Agronomy to Wildlife Management and the State FFA Star Farmer and Star in Agribusiness will be recognized
Gary Goodman, General Manager of the State Fair, will address the participants and introduce FFA members who were recipients of a 2005 State Fair Scholarships.
A number of FFA members will compete for college scholarships in the beef, dairy, swine and wether goat showmanship categories during the Fair. The scholarships are sponsored by the SC Farm Bureau. Other members will also compete in the lamb showmanship categories.
Horticulture students who are FFA members at Aiken High School and Marion County Technical Education Center will decorate the Livestock Arena with mums and other flowers to demonstrate their knowledge of plant science.
Other FFA members will serve in the FFA Courtesy Corps on Student Day and Senior Citizens Day.
