TOWNSEND RECEIVES AGRICULTURAL EDUCATION AWARDCOLUMBIA, SC….State Representative Ronald P. Townsend of Anderson, SC, recently received the Distinguished Service to Agricultural Education Award from the SC Association of Agricultural Educators.
Steve McCannon of Pendleton, SC, President of the SC Association of Agricultural Educators, presented the award to Mr. Townsend at the SC FFA Recognition Luncheon held in conjunction with the 2005 SC State Fair.
The award, established by the SC Agricultural Educators group in 2002, is named in honor of John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA Association.
Representative Townsend was recognized for his outstanding support of Agricultural Education at the state and national levels. He has previously received the Honorary American FFA Degree, the highest award available from the 490,000 member National FFA Organization.
A graduate of Clemson University, Mr. Townsend has served as a member of the SC House of Representatives since l985 and chaired the House Education and Public Works Committee since 1995.
