DOBBINS NAMED DISTINGUISHED TEACHER IN THE SOUTH
CLEMSON, SC…Dr. Tom Dobbins, Associate Professor and Program Coordinator for Agricultural Education at Clemson University, has been recognized as the Distinguished Teacher of the Year in the South by the American Association of Agricultural Educators, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association.
Dr. Dobbins, a native of Anderson County, is a graduate of Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College with an Associate of Science Degree in Agriculture. He also graduated from Clemson University with a BS Degree in Agricultural Education and a Master of Agriculture Degree in Dairy Science. He received a Doctorate of Philosophy Degree in Vocational-Technical Education from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 1999.
As an Associate Professor in the Agricultural and Bio-Systems Engineering Department, Dr. Dobbins coordinates the undergraduate and graduate program for Agricultural Education and serves as Advisor to the Clemson University Collegiate FFA Organization. He also develops instructional material for agricultural educators in South Carolina.
Dr. Dobbins, chairman of the Pendleton School District Board of Trustees, is a member of the Board of Directors of the National FFA Alumni.
The prestigious award was presented to Dr. Dobbins at a National Conference of University Agricultural Educators in Orlando, Florida.
