HILLCREST FFA EQUINE TEAM HEADED TO NATIONAL FINALS

COLUMBIA, SC…The Hillcrest High School FFA Equine Team took first place honors in the State Finals held in Anderson County recently, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.

Team members Robyn Kellett, Chelsea Jones, Kaity D’Angelo and Casey Hill along with Advisor Clark Woods, were awarded expense-paid trips to the National FFA Convention scheduled in Indianapolis, Indiana, later this year to compete in the National FFA Equine Finals. Casey Hill was the high individual scorer and Robyn Kellett was the second high scorer in the over-all event.

The Chesterfield Team was Runner-Up in the state finals. Team members Rebecca Carter, Will Kinard, Sarah Davis and Elisabeth Stamey were coached by Beth Whisenhunt, Agricultural Education teacher and FFA advisor at Chesterfield High School. Elisabeth Stamey was the third high scorer in the state competition.

Indian Land team members April Hinson, Natalie McManus and Jillian Paxton placed third in the state finals. They were coached by Troy Helms, Agricultural Education teacher and FFA advisor at Indian Land High School.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
