COLUMBIA, SC…The Lexington Technology Center FFA Floriculture Team took first place honors in the State FFA-sponsored Floriculture Finals at Spartanburg Technical College recently, according to John W. Parris, director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.
Team members Will Amick, Richard Blume, Patrick Williams and Emily Ivey along with Team advisor Tommy Harmon, Horticulture Instructor at the Center, were awarded expense-paid trips to the National FFA Convention scheduled in Indianapolis, Indiana, later this year to compete in the National Floriculture Finals.
Will Amick was the high individual scorer and Patrick Williams was the third high scorer in the overall state event.
The Strom Thurmond Technology Center Team was Runner-Up in the state finals. Rebecca Hastings was the second high individual scorer in the overall event. Team members are Rebecca Hastings, Brandi Bearden. Tracie Morgan and Jessica Morgan. Hugh Bland and Dan Henderson, Agricultural Education teachers at the Center, are the team advisors.
Aiken FFA team members Lara Boyd, Shevonie Paige and Amanda Barron placed third in the state competition. Joe Wilson, Horticulture Instructor at Aiken High School, is their coach.
