COLUMBIA, SC….The Gilbert High School FFA Tractor Operation and Safety Team has advanced to state finals in the agricultural engineering-related event by being named Runner-up in the competition, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.
“Gilbert team members Ricky Keisler, Trey Elrod, Matt Harden and Cody Lybrand, competed against teams from high schools throughout the mid-state region”, Parris said. Cody Lybrand was the high individual scorer in the overall event.
The team, coached by Agricultural Education teacher and FFA advisor Derrick Cooper, will participate in the state finals at the State Fair Grounds in April.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
