LAMAR, SC…SC Commissioner of Agriculture Hugh Weathers was awarded the Honorary Membership Degree by the Lamar FFA Chapter recently, according to John W. Parris, State Director of Public Affairs with the SC FFA Association.
The presentation was made by Chapter President Frankie McCullough and Bert Beasley, FFA Advisor, at the Darlington County Young Farmer and Agribusiness Chapter-sponsored Agricultural Issues Program held at Lamar High School.

Commissioner Weathers presented a Proclamation announcing National FFA Week to Lamar FFA members and advisor during his keynote address. The banquet program was sponsored by Pee Dee Farm Credit and coordinated by Don Boice, an official with the Farm Credit group.
National FFA Week is set for February 18-25, 2006. The theme of the observance is “Living to Serve”. Lamar FFA members will join more than 490,000 agricultural education students from every state, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Island in celebrating the event.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through Agricultural Education.
