DOZIER ADDRESSED MANNING FFA ASSEMBLY PROGRAM

Terry Dozier, a four year basketball starter with the University of South Carolina Gamecocks and former NBA player with the Charlotte Hornets, was the keynote speaker for a special FFA Week assembly program at Manning High School, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.

Dozier’s message about reaching one’s full potential was a powerful presentation.

Holding a basketball high above his head, he shared how it had given him an identity as a youngster, made his quest for a college education possible and provided an opportunity for him to see the world.

Showing off his university diploma, Dozier said “this is what saved me after basketball because educated people make fewer mistakes.”

As he neared the end of his message, he lifted a third visual aid…his copy of the Bible…and shared how his faith in God had made the most important difference in his life. The students cheered in agreement and approval.

Currently, Dozier is a Career Development Coordinator with the University of South Carolina’s Athletic Department and serves as a mentor at the SC Department of Juvenile Justice.

The Manning FFA Chapter officers successfully demonstrated their superb leadership training as they conducted the inspiring program. Michael Haynes, Agricultural Education teacher, is the FFA advisor.

Manning Junior High FFA Officers and their advisor, Lori Beth Rhodes, attended the event.

William Johnson, Chairman of Clarendon School District Two Board of Trustees, and Amos Hatcher, Resource Officer at Manning High School, were awarded the prestigious Honorary FFA Chapter Degree.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success.
