THURMOND FFA TEAM TAKES TOP AWARD IN REGION

COLUMBIA, SC…The Strom Thurmond Technology Center FFA Tractor Operation and Safety Team took first place honors in the mid-state regional agricultural engineering-related event held recently at the Chester County Career Center, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.

Team members Aaron Holley, Wade Hastings, Brian Burton and Tyler Holmes competed against teams from high schools throughout the region. Aaron Holley was the second high individual scorer and Tyler Holmes was the third high individual scorer in the overall competition.

The team, coached by Dan Henderson and Hugh Bland, Agricultural Education teachers at the Center, will compete in the state finals at the State Fair Grounds in April.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference I n the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success.
