MCBEE FFA TEAM ADVANCES TO STATE FINALS

COLUMBIA, SC…The McBee High School FFA Tool Identification Team took first place honors in the Pee Dee Regional Agricultural Engineering-related Competition held recently at the Pee Dee Research and Education Center near Florence, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.

Team members Caleb Winburn, Bill Herrington, Megan Wayne, Jaclyn Byrd and Devin Talbert competed against teams from throughout the region. Caleb Winburn was the high individual scorer in the over-all competition and Bill Herrington was the second high scorer.

Participation in the Tool Identification competition is limited to first year students enrolled in Agricultural Education courses. The McBee team, coached by Agricultural Education teacher W. Pat Earle, will compete in the State Finals scheduled at the State Fair Grounds in Columbia in April.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success.
