MOORE NAMED STATE FFA STAR IN AGRIBUSINESS
CLEMSON, SC…Mark Moore, a member of the Laurens FFA Chapter, was named the State FFA Star in Agribusiness by the SC FFA Association in a special ceremony at Clemson University recently, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the FFA organization.
A rising senior at Laurens District 55 High School, Mark was recognized for his success in establishing a business designed to train horses to develop the discipline required to participate in parades, historic military battle enactments and other public events.
Mark owns fifteen horses and more than $5000 in training equipment. He is part owner or has use of three tractors, two trailers, two mowers, three hay balers, a hay rake and a truck.
Employed by Trinity Ridge Animal Health, Mark is gaining valuable experience for his future career. He plans to attend Clemson University in preparation to achieve his goal of becoming a veterinarian.
Southern States, Inc., and the SC FFA Association, co-sponsors of the prestigious Agricultural Education award, presented the Laurens FFA Chapter a check for $1200 to defray expenses for Mark and FFA Advisor Melanie Birchmore, Agricultural Education teacher at the high school, to attend the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, later this year.
Mark is the son of Mark and Bonita Moore of Laurens.
