COLUMBIA, SC….Aiken High School Horticulture students and their instructor recently presented poinsettias to Clemson University President James F. Barker to decorate his and adjacent offices in Sikes Hall in preparation for the Christmas Season, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association.
Students Erin Hayes, Brittany Kneece, Scottie West and Calvin Tindall, members of the Aiken FFA Chapter, were joined by Joe Wilson, chapter advisor, in Clemson on Monday, December 4, 2006, for presentation of the plants to the president.

in front of SIkes Hall.The students grew the poinsettias in the Aiken High School Horticulture Department’s greenhouses as part of their hands-on-training in Plant Science and Greenhouse Operation.
President Barker was very impressed with the quality of the poinsettias and complimented Mr. Wilson for including Plant Science in the Agricultural Education curriculum at Aiken High School.
