BLANTON RECEIVES NATIONAL FFA AWARD

COLUMBIA, SC….Dr. Lloyd H. Blanton of Clemson, SC, has been awarded the Honorary American FFA Degree by the National FFA Organization, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA Association.

Dr. Blanton, a native of Horry County, received a BS degree and a Master of Science degree in Agricultural Education from Clemson University. He taught agricultural education at Walhalla, York and Kingstree High Schools before earning a PhD degree in Agricultural Education from Ohio State University.

Dr. Blanton served on the Agricultural Education Department faculty at the University of Georgia for a few years prior to returning to Clemson University where he served as a faculty member and head of the Agricultural Education Department until his retirement.

Dr. Blanton serves as a member of the board of directors of the South Carolina FFA Foundation which provides substantial financial support to the SC FFA Association.

“The Honorary American FFA Degree is the highest award presented by the 495,000 member National FFA Organization to a friend or supporter of the agricultural education student association,” Parris said. “Dr. Blanton is very deserving of this prestigious honor for his many years of dedicated service to the FFA and agricultural education,” he added.

Dr. Blanton and his wife, Melba, have two children, James H. and Cindy who live nearby in Central and Greenville.

The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
