STATE FFA OFFICERS ATTEND CAROLINA CELEBRATION OF LIBERTY

COLUMBIA, SC….State FFA officers Amanda Hiott, Katie McCannon and Allen Wright along with members of their families attended the CAROLINA CELEBRATION OF LIBERTY at Columbia’s First Baptist Church on Sunday, July 2, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.

Approximately 4000 people filled the large, two-balcony sanctuary waving flags and singing patriotic songs. The impressive event retold the story of the signing of the Declaration of Independence and the hardships endured by those who’s sacrifices made our great nation a reality. Hundreds of veterans and active duty military personnel were recognized during the program.

The colorful one and one-half hour ceremony was highlighted by musical renditions by the First Baptist Church’s large choir and orchestra along with Fort Jackson’s 282 nd Army Band. The presentation was broadcast on ETV and other TV stations across the state on Tuesday, July 4 th.

Brigadier General Blair Hansen, Vice Commander, Shaw Air Force Base, summed up the spirit of the celebration when he said, “Today, we are the land of the free because of the brave”.

State FFA Officers observe the beginning of a beautiful and impressive indoor fireworks display in the sanctuary of Columbia’s First Baptist Church at the close of the ceremony carried out under the direction of the State Fire Marshall.
