COLUMBIA, SC…The B.J. Skelton Career Center FFA Equine Team took first place honors in the State Finals held at Welcome Ranch near Williamston, SC, recently, according to John W. Parris, state director of public affairs with the SC FFA organization.
Team members Courtney Bridges, Angelia Knox, Jessica Mitchell, and Caitlin Raines along with their advisor, Steve McCannon, were awarded expense paid trips to the 2007 National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, Indiana, to participate in the National FFA Equine Judging Finals. Caitlin Raines was the high individual scorer in the over-all competition.
The Belton-Honea Path Team was State Runner-Up and the Travelers Rest team placed third in the state finals.
The mission of the FFA is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
